5 Keys to Success in Body Building that can be Translated to Any Field
I had the opportunity to interview female Body Builder, Bee Barnett, who is a personal inspiration to me. She spilled her success secrets about body building that can truly be applied to achieving any long term goals.
Before I continue, I want you to think about a personal or business goal you’ve been working on or thinking about starting so that when I mention these key success factors, you’ll be able to apply them to your own situation and experience increased success.
1st Key to Success: Get a Coach
With the diverse amount of information and resources available, you can most definitely get results on your own. However, there’s always somebody who has more experience and proven results than you and if you want to get results Fast, this is the way to “Bee Line” to your finish line.
A coach not only can help you identify the action steps but also keep you accountable. If you have someone checking in with you regularly, you’ll be more likely to make sure you get sh!t done.
2nd Key to Success: Find Your Community
You are most certainly strong enough to bare the burden of your goals on your own. But, locking arms with friends and peers who are like-minded, experiencing similar challenges, and share similar goals can make your journey not only easier, but also more fun!
Your community will help encourage you or give you good advice when you’re going through a struggle. And then you have the opportunity to experience the satisfaction of helping others on the other end. For example, Bee was experiencing the struggle of being on a stairclimber on a Friday night instead of being out with friends at a bar.
When she posted a pic of herself climbing the electronic stairs, the response was that she got pics back of other members of her community working out in the gym with messages of #encouragement.
3rd Key to Success: Consistency
Being consistent is much easier with a coach and accountability partners, a.k.a. your community. But ultimately, you are the one responsible for achieving your own goals.
Develop routines in the mornings, afternoons, and in the evenings that are non-negotiable.
If you want to get results, you have to make your goals not “a” priority but “the” priority, rather.
4th Key to Success: “TTP” Trust The Process
Whether you’ve hit a weight loss plateau or a lull in business lead generation, Bee says “you have to TTP” or “Trust The Process.”
If you have the coach and the community in place and you’re being consistent with your action steps, you will get results as long as you keep going.
There are times when it feels like you’ve done everything you can do and the results are not there. When you stick with it, you’ll find the results are just around the corner (as illustrated in the book Three Feet from Gold by Sharon Lechter and Greg Reid, and the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill).
5th Key to Success: Believe in Yourself
Something that I found to be very inspiring about Bee that came to light during our interview was that she has herniated discs in her lower lumbar.
You would never know from her progress and achievements that she has a major injury that she has had to work around to get award winning results. Her response when I asked her what do you want to tell people who are looking to you for advice with success in body building was, “this is achievable for everyone.”
The takeaway that I get from this is that if you want to achieve something, you just have to believe that you can and then put in motion keys 1 – 4.

Whatever it is that you’re working on, believe in yourself and set the rest in motion. Develop habits that become part of your daily routine and make yourself a priority. Be bold. Be yourself. Push yourself beyond your limits. You can do it!
