Mondays, for many of us, are the toughest day of the week.
After a weekend of fun and relaxation, it’s back to the grind. But hey, if you work hard, you get to play hard, and that’s why we do it, right?
Maybe we just need to change our mindset and look at Mondays in a little different light.
Make the Most out of Monday
Mondays are the first opportunity of the week to get ahead and jump start your progress.
If you think about your week in terms of winning a game, you’ll define your objectives, design a plan on how to get there, execute the plan, play defense, and make those come-backs.
GOALS
First and foremost, set and review your goals! This will give you your milestones to hit throughout the week and show you the light at the end of the tunnel.
Reviewing your goals will make you the leader of your team and put you ahead of your opponents. You’ll have to give yourself time to prep and review, so make sure you get to bed in enough time to wake up refreshed and hit the ground running.
DESIGN YOUR PLAN
After you have set and reviewed your goals and milestones, you need to develop the roadmap on how to get there.
- How much time is it going to take to complete the tasks?
- What contacts do you need to make
- How many contacts do you need to make?
- Put it in your calendar
- Set reminders
When you have a plan, you’re more likely to achieve your goals than just taking the day moment by moment. You’ll be more time conscious and have the ability to prioritize.
EXECUTE
You know your goals, what you need to do, Monday is the first day to begin execution and start knocking down those milestones one by one. Some contacts are going to be more difficult than others to make but you know it has to be done to get you further to your goal so press onward and don’t hold back.
PLAY DEFENSE
Part of the reason why familiarizing yourself with your goal and knowing your plan of action is because there’s always going to be interference.
Whether you’re training for a marathon, starting a new diet, or trying to win over a multi-million dollar deal, there are always going to be distractions and if you’re aware of the potentials (such as happy hour with friends, dinner with family, date night with the spouse) you’re more likely to stay focused.
Have fun and take advantage of social opportunities throughout the week. Knowing when to cut yourself off, call it a night, and go home will keep you on your A-game.
MAKE COME-BACKS
Sometimes set-backs are unavoidable. When you recognize the set back early on, you understand what change needs to be made in the plan, the time investment necessary to execute the plan, and execute as soon as possible to get back on track and take that goal to the bank.
Get Your Head In The Game!
Mondays don’t have to be that “dreaded day”. Make the most out of Monday (and everyday, actually) and view it as an opportunity to assess, realign, and execute.
