Everybody says you have to STOP drinking alcohol to lose weight. That’s a big fat lie! Sacrificing your career, social life, and free time for a healthy and fit body just isn’t necessary.
For over ten years I worked in demanding corporate positions traveling and on the go.
I had to learn how to stay in shape so I could be focused, energized, and mentally prepared for my next meeting, event, presentation, etc…
The realization that changed everything for me was when I started prioritizing myself and my health over my work demands.
I know what it’s like to work in a position that demands a lot of time and energy, especially in male dominated industries.
I know what it’s like to be a workaholic leaving home at 6am and not getting back till 8pm or later working 14 and 16 hour days.
I know what it’s like to depend on coffee, sodas, fast food, and finally alcohol to get through the day.
I felt guilty about eating and drinking “the wrong things” when out socially with my friends or at networking events.
My sleep was wrecked. I was stressed. I was burned out. I was unhealthy.
To my family and even to my friends I had it all. Lucrative career. Opportunity advancement from my superiors. Support from my coworkers.
I even managed to snag a really great boyfriend (now husband).
But the truth is I was deprived inside. There was something missing. My internal light was dimmed. And it was fading.
With no time left for my mental and physical health at the end of the day, I realized my lifestyle was taking a toll on me.
I was resorting to alcohol to unwind and drink my stress away.
I gained weight.
I wasn’t sleeping well.
I was moody.
I was visiting the doctor frequently for eczema, chest pain, headaches, anxiety. If it wasn’t one thing it was another.
I was too dependent on external sources for energy.
Then it all changed when I started waking up earlier before work. This was my time to work on me.
I started hitting the gym early.
I started journaling.
I started reading books and learning more about nutrition.
I started experimenting with my meals and recipes.
And then I started noticing positive changes in my body AND in my work performance.
I started focusing better. My memory improved.
And all of the sudden I had more natural energy.
I didn’t NEED the coffee any more and I wasn’t CRAVING alcohol at the end of the day.
I started questioning everything I was eating.
So I regrouped and I made a big shift.
And that was my thinking…
I had to shift my way of thinking to make sure my healthy habits worked with my demanding career, my active social life AND my desire to be physically fit.
I pivoted into making health my top priority. So I created what I call an effective energy balance rule for me.
For my health. For my wellness. For The Long-Run.
Look, I am going to shoot you straight.
What truly defines body and health success isn’t long hours in the gym or depriving yourself of social indulgences.
It’s internal shifts that make focusing on the right things 10x more impactful than just hard work.
It really is about working smarter.
I broke free from self-sabotage, dieting myths, slaving over cardio, feeling guilty about eating cheat foods, consuming alcohol and you can break free too.
I put together a free presentation where I share exactly how to make these shifts while not burning out, while not sabotaging your lifestyle, and how to make things stick for the long-run.
